Cobi Cockburn

Cobi Cockburn is a celebrated contemporary artist, using light, line, and transparency as her medium. A unique combination of concise minimalism and abstract expressionism, her work explores subtle transitions of transparency and hue to delve into audience’s subconscious and humanism. Continually evolving her practice through material, her high level of skill and innovation is what keeps her as one of Australia’s most award winning artists. She is a graduate of the Sydney College of Art in Australia and an Honors graduate of the Glass Workshop at Canberra School of Art, Australian National University.

Cobi has won the prestigious FUSE prize in 2020, the Tom Malone Prize at the Art Gallery of WA twice, in 2015 & 2009, the Ranamok Glass Prize in Sydney, the Lino Tagliapietra Prize and Talente in Germany and Emerge in the USA. Cobi was also a finalist in the Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney. The first glass artist to have achieved this honour. Cockburn actively participates in the contemporary arts and has her work published in numerous reviews as well as many premier private and public collections around the world. Cobi is currently a passionate educator and artist, holding a lecturer and senior technician position at SCA, University of Sydney.
