We are so pleased to have had some beautiful Giles Bettison pieces delivered to the gallery this week.
Giles Bettison has become one of Australia’s most dominant and recognised glass artists. This acclaim can be attributed to his unique & strikingly beautiful application of colour, patterns and forms in his continual exploration of the traditional techniques of Murrini glass. His works invite a subtle contemplation of the environment in country South Australia, which inspires him.
Giles specialises in the Murrini technique, where hundreds of small tiles are fused together using heat. Each piece is coldworked to a satin finish. The details in the pieces are extraordinary, and his palette features earthy tones with transparent cells using Bullseye glass.
