Susie Choi winner of University of Southern Queensland Emerging Artist Award

Congratulations Susie Choi on receiving the University of Southern Queensland Emerging art Award for her piece ‘Dinkum’.  Susie describes the work ‘Dinkum’ as a ‘playful exploration of authenticity and identity’, looking at her traditional Korean culture interplaying with the Australian mainstay of Summer – the backyard pool ring. Launching in 2024, the UniSQ Art Award will not only provide recognition and financial support to talented artists, but also contribute to the University Art Collection. The winning artworks will be acquired by the university, adding to its diverse and vibrant collection. This acquisition benefits the artists by providing them with exposure and recognition, and future students, researchers, and art enthusiasts by enriching the valuable resource that is the UniSQ Art Collection.
