Ceramics, Glass + Fibre

Clay Stories: Contemporary Indigenous Ceramics from Remote Australia has just been launched at Sabbia Gallery in Sydney. The exhibition has come about after two years of conversations between the director Anna Grigson and Ruth McMillan, Janet DeBoos, Hannah Kothe and many of the amazing people from the five art centres involved. Along with a long of hard slog.

We are thrilled to have launched the exhibition catalogue, with a great essay by Bruce Johnson McLean, Curator of Indigenous Australian Art at QAGOMA, and writings by the 14 artists involved.

Selected artists come from Ernabella Arts in teh APY Lands SA, Erub Arts on Darnley Island in the Torres Strait, Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre in Cardwell in QLD, Hermannsburg Potters in the Central Desert NT and Tiwi Designs on Melville Island NT.

It was a superb opening night. Looking forward to enjoying the works for the next four weeks.

The exhibition will tour throughout Australia from October 2017 at JamFactory at Seppeltsfield in conjunction with Tarnanthi arts festival.
