Sabbia Gallery is pleased to present this lovely ceramic exhibition from the NAS 2015 Sabbia Gallery Award Recipient, Finn Lea.

My goal is to make functional objects that will bring joy to those who use them. I found the most satisfying approach to achieve this was with clay on a pottery wheel. What particularly interests me is how the form created on the wheel is strongly influenced by the makers overall wellbeing and understanding of themselves, which is why I always practice with care and the right attitude.

I put a lot of emphasis on repetition as this allows me to achieve a better understanding of each forms limitations and capabilities. I have found that this attitude results in the final presence of my work to be naturally determined by its intentional function. Even though there is a feeling of repetition in my work, a different sense of volume and life is always felt from one piece to the next, as every day and experience is different to the next.
