Congratulations also to Sabbia artist Alfred Lowe on being announced as a finalist for the 2023 Ramsay Art Prize, an $100,000 acquisitive prize for contemporary Australian artists under forty.

Presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia and supported in perpetuity by the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation, the Ramsay Art Prize strongly supports contemporary Australian artists at a pivotal moment in their careers.

Alfred is one of twenty-seven artists selected for this prestigious award.

Finalists were selected by a judging panel of contemporary art specialists including Aaron Seeto, Director of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Nusantara, Jakarta; Perth-based visual artist and creative producer Erin Coates; and Nici Cumpston OAM, Artistic Director of Tarnanthi: Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art and Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

The winner will be judged from the exhibition and announced at the official opening on Friday 26 May 2023. All works selected as finalists will be exhibited in a major exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia from 27 May to 27 August 2023.
