We were delighted to attend the opening weekend of ‘After the Rain’ the 5th National Indigenous Art Triennial @nationalgalleryaus and curated by Tony Albert. We couldn’t be more proud of the amazing Hermannsburg artists presenting alongside @manyhandsart & #VincentNamatjira with the House of Namatjira. Making the trip from Ntaria were Judith Pungkarta Inkamala, Beth Mbitjana Inkamala, Rona Panangka Rubuntja & Hayley Panangka Coulthard. ‘The project brings together members of the Namatjira family and community, including the renowned Hermannsburg Potters, Iltja Ntjarra Art Centre and the artist’s great-grandson, Vincent Namatjira’. @tonyalbert
We are currently presenting the fourth iteration of our First Nation’s biannual group exhibition, an exhibition that looks towards artists that are change-makers – those working with new materials or new ways of representing strong culture in their chosen material. We are pleased to have some fantastic new artworks by Hermannsburg artists Alizha Panangka Coulthard and Donna Purrula McNamara featured in the current exhibition and works by Rona Panangka Rubuntja, Dawn Ngala Wheeler & Anita Mbitjana Ratara in our Stockroom.

Gallery Director Anna Grigson was delighted to attend the opening event for Pippin Drysdale’s ‘Infinite Terrain’ major retrospective at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth. This landmark retrospective honours one of Australia’s most celebrated ceramic artists. Spanning over forty years of practice, this richly layered exhibition brings together works from the State Art Collection and significant national loans. It offers a rare chance to explore Drysdale’s adventurous spirit, collaborative approach, and her extraordinary ability to translate landscape into porcelain. Her flowing lines and luminous colour fields evoke places both vast and intimate — inviting us into stories of memory, terrain, and imagination. Based in Fremantle, Drysdale began her ceramics journey in the 1980s and continues to create new work at 82. Her pieces are held in major collections across Australia and internationally, and her reputation as a pioneer of contemporary ceramics is firmly established. Pippin Drysdale: ‘Infinite Terrain’ runs until 6 April 2026. Congratulations Pip, this is wonderful recognition for an extraordinary career!
JamFactory’s annual ICON exhibition series celebrates South Australia’s most influential visual artists working in craft-based media. Sabbia is proud to share that Senior Anangu Elder and esteemed Sabbia artist Tjunkaya Tapaya OAM (1947 – 2025) has been selected as the JamFactory 2026 ICON.
A highly respected ceramicist, painter, and weaver, Tapaya is recognised as one of the most prominent female artists working on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands. The exhibition will be curated by fellow Pitjantjatjara artist Anne Thompson, Chair of the Ernabella Arts Board, with support from JamFactory and Ernabella Arts staff. Accompanied by a monograph exploring Tapaya’s life, practice, and work, the exhibition will launch in Adelaide in August 2026 before touring nationally.
Her extraordinary artistry and enduring cultural leadership continue to inspire, and we are thrilled to that her work will be shared with audiences across Australia and beyond.
Jenni Kemarre Martiniello was one of 71 finalists for this year’s 2025 Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards Telstra (NATSIAA), Australia’s longest running and most prestigious art awards of its kind. She has also just been announced as a finalist in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Prize, Campbelltown Art Centre as well as a finalist in the MAC yapang Art Prize, Port Macquarie Regional Gallery, Port Macquarie. What a wonderful year of accomplishments!
We are so pleased to have some important works available in our Stockroom, and Jenni will be exhibiting in our upcoming bi-annual ‘Together we tell our Stories – Indigenous Glass, Ceramics, Fibre + Sculpture‘, opening from 10th December 2025
Sabbia warmly congratulates Dr Cathy Franzi on her induction into the International Academy of Ceramics in October 2025 — a prestigious honour recognising her dedication to the field and connecting her with a global network of ceramic professionals. In 2026, Cathy will attend the IAC International Congress in Jingdezhen, China. A full-time studio artist, Cathy’s practice explores botanical and environmental themes through porcelain. Awarded a Doctorate in Visual Arts (Ceramics) from the Australian National University in 2015, her research examined the scientific and cultural values attributed to plant species, drawing on historical ceramics, prints, and botanical illustrations from collections around the world. Her work continues to investigate how Australian flora and environmental knowledge can be expressed through ceramic form and surface — a lifelong commitment now recognised on the international stage. Congratulations, Cathy — a remarkable accolade for a remarkable practice.
We are so pleased to have some new works to the gallery available through our Stockroom with further works available in early February 2026
