Pippin Drysdale – Honoured with Landmark Retrospective at AGWA

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is delighted to present Pippin Drysdale: Infinite Terrain, a landmark retrospective honouring one of Australia’s most celebrated ceramic artists.

Spanning over forty years of practice, this richly layered exhibition brings together works from the State Art Collection and significant national loans. It offers a rare chance to explore Drysdale’s adventurous spirit, collaborative approach, and her extraordinary ability to translate landscape into porcelain. Her flowing lines and luminous colour fields evoke places both vast and intimate — inviting us into stories of memory, terrain, and imagination.

Based in Fremantle, Drysdale began her ceramics journey in the 1980s and continues to create new work at 82. Her pieces are held in major collections across Australia and internationally, and her reputation as a pioneer of contemporary ceramics is firmly established.

Driven by curiosity and a deep connection to place, Drysdale’s practice blends technical mastery with fearless experimentation. Her porcelain forms reveal the emotional and expressive power of colour in the landscape — subtle, intense, and always deeply felt.

Pippin Drysdale: Infinite Terrain opens 6 December 2025, until 6 April 2026.
