Sabbia Gallery is pleased to present the long awaited solo exhibition Ocean vita (Ocean Life) by Australian artist Kevin Gordon.
This body of work is a continuum of my work into looking at sea forms and the design structures which stems from 2008 when I was granted access to research the archives of the Natural Museum in West Australia. Looking at the underlying logic and formulas that create natures designs, the fractal elements that form together to make structure whilst exploiting the colours, optics and beauty of glass. My practice technically is based on working with teams of glassblowers to create forms and then with applied cold working glass skills to work the surface of the glass to exploit the many qualities of glass through colour, texture, light and optics to create my designs. I challenge myself to work glass in new ways and developing new techniques which has distinguished my work.
