Presenting the first solo exhibition of LeShaye Swan at Sabbia.
LeShaye Swan is an exceptional emerging ceramic artist, working at the APY studio in Adelaide. Growing up in a remote indigenous community on the APY lands in South Australia, LeShaye draws from her experiences and memories of living on country as a key influence in her ceramic practice. These references to country and indigeneity emerge in the native Australian botanic iconography that adorn the surfaces of her vessels. LeShaye layers up pigmented underglaze onto the wet clay surface and then uses a sgraffito technique to inscribe her chosen floral motifs. These vibrant and contemporary works have been highly commended with LeShaye being a finalist in the 43rd Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards and a finalist in the 2026 Wynne Prize.
