We were thrilled for Honor Freeman, who opened her outstanding exhibition G H O S T O B J E C T S at the Art Gallery of South Australia last week. Presented during the 2019 SALA Festival and facilitated by Guildhouse, Honor explores the residual stories (real and imagined) that orbit around the collection in objects of ritual, mourning and loss. ‘Working primarily in porcelain, Freeman harnesses the mimetic qualities of clay through the magic of slip casting whereby porcelain casts echo original objects. Liquid slip becomes solid, thereby becoming a memory of a past form – a ghost object’ – AGSA
The opening event featured Honor in conversation with media personality Annabel Crabb, with the audience treated to some great insights to Honor’s practice. Congratulations Honor! Images: Saul Steed
