We are delighted to announce that Sabbia artists Matthew Curtis, Mel Douglas, Judi Elliot, Jennifer Kemarre Martiniello and Kirstie Rea have been included in the New Glass Now‘s touring exhibition in the USA.
New Glass Now is the third iteration of a longstanding exhibition series, which developed in 1959. There have been two exhibitions in this series including Glass 1959 and New Glass: A Worldwide Survey (1979).
The most recent exhibition (New Glass Now) includes a selection of 100 pieces from artists across the world to showcase the “diversity of contemporary glassmaking and thinking”. The work was initially displayed at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York from the 12th of May 2019 until the 5th of January 2020. However, we are delighted to announce that the exhibition will tour to the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC. The exhibition opens on the 21st of October 2021 and will close on the 6th of March 2022.
We are incredibly proud of the five artists from Sabbia’s stable that have been included in this significant exhibition.
One of the solo artists Matthew Curtis will be holding his long awaited exhibition Luminous Margin at Sabbia Gallery from the 10th of November to the 4th of December 2021.
